The Story of How Sam Became Evil
A villain is just a victim's story that hasn’t been told.
                                           -Chris Colfer
Tom Thumb’s story has been told worldwide, but the one story that hasn’t been told is the story of Tom Thumb’s father, Sam.
Sam’s life was fine before January 5th, 1997, when everything changed.  It was Jan 4th when he  woke up from his nap that he had taken while he was working in his shed in the central part of the woods.  He chopped trees into smaller pieces.  He chopped a few more pieces of wood before he headed back to his shack just north of his shed on horseback.   Once he arrived, he went inside the shack and took off his old boots.  He went into the kitchen where a lovely stew was steeping on the table made by his beloved wife, Julia. He gobbled up his stew and headed off to bed.  That night was the night that everything changed.  Sam had a ring that has been passed down through generations and generations - from his grandpa, to his wife, to Sam, and soon his son.

That night the ring was left perched on the edge of his oak  nightstand just waiting to fall.  Sam’s uncle, Fred who despised  Sam ever since he became more popular than him.   Fred always wants to get revenge, but he wonders how.   Then it came to Fred!   He’s going to steal the ring that their family loves.  He wanted to steal the ring so that Sam’s son couldn’t receive it.  Fred was getting ready for his big mission,  but he had 1 worry - he can’t go running into Sam’s house willy nilly.  He must come up with an idea to help him steal the ring. Eventually, after hours of thinking, it came to him.  He came up with the smartest invention yet:   5 cm short minions.  Fred would create them to  steal the ring from Sam.  He knew Sam wouldn’t see him do it because they would be too short to even notice.  The next day he put his plan into action. He released his minions and let them do their job.   The minions stole the ring and gave it to their master, Fred. without Sam noticing.   What they didn’t realize,  is that Sam did as a matter a fact see the whole thing, from start to finish.  Sam couldn’t go after them because he was too tired and the minions were too fast. Sam was very sad that his ring had been stolen.   He was definitely scarred forever.  When Julia gave birth to their child they were wondering what to name him. They finally decided on Tom Thumb.   They named him Tom because his grandpa’s name was Tom.   Sam hated Tom Thumb because he was way too short.  Sam had terrible memories involving short things, such as the minions.  Julia saw a huge resemblance between  Tom and Sam (but not  their height!)  A few days after Tom was born the family became broke.  Sam lost his job when he worked at the shed and all their  money was stolen.  The family couldn’t afford feeding everybody, so they had to give somebody away.   Julia and Sam had a meeting after Tom went to bed and decided that they had to give Tom away because he was the most unloved family member.  The next morning when Tom woke up,  Julia and Sam told him the news. Tom took it very well and packed his stuff and headed into the forest alone without anybody to keep him warm.   After a while Tom was starving so he searched and searched for hours trying to find food. Then he finally found a bush pack full of yummy berries that squirt out sweet red juice.  Tom ate at least 20 berries until he got completely full.  Back at the shack,  Sam and Julia were managing just fine without Tom.  One month after abandoning poor, useless Tom,  Julia passed away from  heart failure.  Sam felt so lonely without Julia. He wanted company so he would feel less lonely.  He decided to go looking for Tom.  Sam went into the woods and searched high and low, east and west, and still couldn’t find Tom.  After searching for at least five hours straight he was getting sweaty  and was ready to quit.   He walked at least ten more miles until he finally heard something.  Tom was talking to somebody, but he couldn’t figure out who he was talking with.   He walked closer and closer, then he saw exactly what happened.  Tom was talking to the ANIMALS!   All sorts of different animals:  birds, deer, butterflies and many others.   Sam ordered Tom to come to him,  but Tom  wouldn’t listen.  Sam was furious with Tom because their family has a policy that has been around for generations and generations:
You’re forbidden from being within’ 30 meters of an animal, and of course you aren’t allowed talking to them.
Tom had no belief in that rule at all,  but Sam said “a family rule is a family rule no matter what”.  Sam had it with Tom.   He wanted to ground him, but he couldn’t because he was too happy to see Tom after all that had happened to him at home.   Sam gave Tom a big hug then told Tom all about his mom’s passing. After they were done , Sam treated Tom to some berries, but Tom had to say  “NO!”
And so they lived Happily Ever After.
